We were approached by Buttercup China To create a visually exciting stand for them at Spring Fair 2012.

The concept was very simple: to use their own product in an interesting way to inspire their customers and show that simple, quality products can look dazzling in the right setting.

Approximately 800 plain and coloured bone china plates were used to cover the back wall giving an effect similar to fish scales. We kept the rest of the stand very simple with elegant bespoke furniture that did not draw attention from the products on display or obscure the view of the plate installation.

"The stand from Not Tom at the Spring Fair surpassed all our expectations in terms of design and impact. During the week we lost count of the people who stopped in awe with a “Wow”.
It will be remembered for years to come and deservedly won the prize for most innovative stand 2012."- Chris Eardley (Buttercup China)

We were commissioned by Bacchus to create a translucent stage-side sculpture for the Proctor & Gamble beauty debate at the Louise Blouin Foundation.

The sculpture was constructed from 10km of string stretched over metal frames and into cast concrete blocks. The idea was to have extremely slender framework and weights constructed of concrete (to match the floor) so the supports would virtually fade into the background leaving the string as the focal point.

The sculpture was installed over a single day and night to adhere to a very short build period.

We were approached by a major financial institution and asked to come up with a simple and cost-effective way to transform their auditorium into a more eye-catching space for their inaugural UK Technology Innovation Summit.

We responded by designing and installing some staging and a bespoke plinth cover with a recurring graphic element deemed appropriate for the event and the particular audience.

The other elements we produced for this event were booklets that outlined the different talks and attendees and matching name badges/lanyards. All the elements fitted under the same brand to create a strong overall identity.

"Everything went great, thank you very much for being so professional and accommodating throughout the whole process. Many attendees commented positively about the stage and the booklets."

For this season, we were invited by Bacchus to create two centre piece furniture items as well as break out furniture and tables for the main reception area and VIP lounge at the British Fashion Council's main venue in Somerset House.

The ribbed desk in reception was an evolution of a design we had produced previously for this area. Detailed attention to the form of the ribs allowed us to create an undulating wave like effect as you walk around the desk.

The "Cornice Bar" located in the VIP Lounge was created by pinning standard timber mouldings such as pelmet and architrave together on the face of the bar which was then spray painted over in one colour.

Woolmark and show curator Charlotte Lurot commissioned Not Tom to create an original piece for inclusion in the Wool Modern exhibition in La Galleria, Pall Mall.

Our response to the brief for a wool themed installation to surround a room was our piece "Dyed In The Wool", created in collaboration with Loui Thomas.

The outside edges of the room are lined with assorted paint tins filled with various coloured dyes. Stood in each jar, and set at random angles are large sticks and sections of tree branches completely wrapped in natural wool top. If the wool is dampened, capillary action causes the coloured die to rise up the sticks, eventually forming a gradient from the natural colour of the wool to the bright colour of the dye.

The full effect of the installation is that of a strange woollen forest, with a subtle, colourful glow around the bottom of the room. The mummification in wool of the dead branches is juxtaposed by the capillary action re-creating the natural movement of water up a living branch. Meanwhile acting as a demonstration of dyeing processes.

The sticks have become something of a totem for the Campaign for Wool, with them also being installed in the gallery windows, the windows of Pringle's Sloan Street shop and included in the promotional video for the exhibition in association with Harrods. The installation has since been widely publicised both online and in print.
